Jailer of Dhaka jail gets death threat
The Jailer of Dhaka Central Jail today received death threat through a mobile phone text message from an unknown sender for the execution of four war criminals in the jail, police said.
Following the threat, Jailer Nesar Alam filed a general diary with South Keraniganj Police Station this evening, Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge of the police station, told The Daily Star.
According to the GD, the text message read: “Four of our leaders were killed. So, we will finish (kill) you.”
The names of the leaders are mentioned as Muhammad Kamaruzzaman, Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed, Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Motiur Rahman Nizami, the police official said.
All of them were executed in the jail for their crimes against humanity during the country’s Liberation War in 1971.
Contacted, Nesar Alam told The Daily Star that he received the SMS containing the death threat at 11:15am. “I filed a GD with local police station in the afternoon,” he added.
