Indian citizen among 7 killed in road accidents
At least seven people, including an Indian citizen were killed and 25 injured in separate road accidents in Dhaka and Faridpur yesterday.
An Indian and two others were killed and 25 others inured when a Dhaka-bound bus of Eagle Paribahan hit a roadside tree at Dhuldi Railgate area on Dhaka-Khulna highway, reports our local correspondent.
The Indian man was identified as Sushanto Mollik, 50, of Barashat area under West Bengal. He died on spot. The two others could not be identified, Nijamul Islam, Sub-inspector of Karimpur Highway Police Station told The Daily Star.
The two other died while under treatment at Faridpur Medical College Hospital (FMCH), while 25 injured were also admitted.
Earlier in the day, another accident took place on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Bhanga Upazila which killed three brick kiln labours.
The deceased were Milon Mollah, 28, Chan Sheikh, 26, and Md. Rinque, 30, reports our correspondent quoting locals.
Office-in-charge (OC) of Bhanga Highway Police Station Azazul Islam said, “The accident took place when a truck hit a stone loaded truck in the upazila killing Chan Sheikh on spot and injuring the other two seriously.
Milon died under treatment in Bhanga Upazila Health Complex and Rinque died on the way to Faridpur Medical College Hgospital, he added.
Meanwhile, our Savar correspondent reports, a doctor died in a road accident yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Rubel Dewan, 35, a MBBS doctor and worked in a private hospital in the town, police said. The accident took place when a sand laden truck ran him over on Abdullahpur-Baipali highway in Savar, said Sub-inspector (SI) Moniruzzaman of Ashulia Police Station.
The body has been sent for autopsy, he added.
