IGP wants time to arrest Liton's killers
Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque yesterday wanted more time to arrest the killers of Gaibandha lawmaker Manzurul Islam Liton, who was shot dead on December 31.
He said this while talking to journalists in Rangpur before attending a meeting with police officials.
Police along with other organisations have been working independently, and checking all the evidence and clues concerning the killing, he added.
About militancy, Shahidul said police have traced recent militant activities and been able to keep those under control.
The law and order situation in the country is much better now than in the past, he added.
Later, the IGP attended the meeting at Police Hall with Khandakar Golam Faruk, deputy inspector general of police (Rangpur range), in the chair.
