ICT orders arrest of three Sherpur men
The International Crimes Tribunal-1 yesterday issued arrest warrants against three Sherpur men for their alleged involvement with crimes committed during the 1971 Liberation War.
The tribunal passed the order following a petition moved by Prosecutor Rezia Sultana Chaman.
Rezia told the tribunal that investigation of the case started on November 19 in 2015. Later, one SM Aminuzzaman Faruk was arrested after investigation officer found his involvement in wartime crimes.
During further investigation, the investigation officer found involvement of the three other accused, she said. They need to be arrested and kept in jail for the sake of proper investigation, she added.
The tribunal allowed her prayer and fixed May 22 for passing further order. Prosecution declined to give further details as the three are yet to be arrested.
Aminuzzaman of Eshibpur village in Nokla upazila in the district was arrested on August 22 last year hours after the tribunal issued an arrest warrant against him following a prosecution petition.
