Held ABT suspects' involvement evident
Detectives yesterday claimed that they had evidence suggesting that the two alleged members of Ansarullah Bangla Team, arrested on Thursday, were involved in the murder of blogger Niladri Chattopadhyay Niloy.
The arrestees -- Kausar Hossain Khan and Kamal Hossain Sardar -- were produced before a Dhaka court and in the forwarding letter, Inspector Shaikh Mahbubur Rahman, also the investigation officer of the case, said they have found evidence of the duo's involvement in the murder.
Metropolitan Magistrate Imdadul Haque granted five-day remand for each, after police prayed for 10-day remand. The two are also charge-sheeted accused in blogger Asif Mohiuddin murder attempt case and were out on bail.
Niloy, also an activist of Gonojagoron Mancha, was stabbed to death at his Goran residence on August 7.
A week after the killing, detectives arrested two ABT operatives -- Saad-al-Nahin, also the charge sheeted accused in Asif Mohiduddin murder attempt case, and Masud Rana -- for their suspected involvement in the murder.
Detectives earlier claimed that although the two did not confess their involvement in the murder, they said they support the crime.
Based on Nahin and Rana's information, detectives arrested Kausar and Kamal from the capital's Mirpur and Dholaipar respectively on Thursday evening.
