Health tech students postpone hunger strike
Health technology students yesterday postponed their strike, 12 days after they began it to realise their 10-point demand in front of the capital's Jatiya Press Club.
The suspension of the strike unto death came after Prime Minister's Information Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, and Director of the Director General of Health Services Dr Samiul Islam Sadi, assured students of implementing their demands.
They said Health Minister Mohammed Nasim has delegated them considering the rationale of the demands, according to a Bangladesh Medical Technology and Pharmacy Students' Association press release.
The delegates offered them water to break the strike, it said.
The demands include creating adequate posts and recruiting them in the public hospitals, stopping illegal recruitment of non-qualified people, upgrading their status to the 10th grade and introducing BSC and MSC courses.
