HC questions delay in framing charge against Destiny
The HC on February 2 ordered Metropolitan Sessions Judge of Dhaka Kamrul Hasan Mollah to finish the charge framing within a month and conclude trial proceedings of the case, which was filed by the Anti Corruption Commission, in one year.
The copy of the HC order reached to Judge Kamrul on March 15, but he is yet to complete charge framing of the case, ACC lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan told The Daily Star.
The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice JBM Hassan today asked Judge Kamrul to give explanation on his failure in framing the charges in around three and a half months after the copy of order reached to him.
The bench fixed August 11 for passing further order on this issue.
The HC bench passed the order after hearing a petition filed by the ACC seeking its order on the metropolitan sessions judge of Dhaka to transfer the case to another court for its quick trial.
The ACC filed a case with Kalabagan Police Station on July 31, 2012 against 22 top officials of Destiny Group including its Managing Director Mohammad Rafiqul Amin for laundering Tk 1178.61 crore from Destiny Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd (DMCSL).
Following a bail petition filed by of Destiny Group Director Lt Col (retd) Didarul Alam, the HC on February 2 ordered Metropolitan Sessions Judge of Dhaka Kamrul Hasan Mollah to finish the charge framing within a month and conclude trial proceedings of the case.
