HC moved to book torturers of Rajshahi boy
The High Court today directed police to report on the steps taken against the persons who were involved in torturing 12-year-old boy Nazmul Haque in Rajshahi's Puthia upazila on February 21.
Superintendent of police in Rajshahi and the officer-in-charge of Puthia Police Station have been asked to submit the report before the High Court bench by March 7.

The Daily Star on February 22 published a report under the headline “12-yr-old boy tortured over trivial matter”.
According to the report, 12-year-old boy Nazmul was tortured by some people for damaging wires of an onboard CD player.
Today the HC issued a rule asking the authorities concerned of the government why their failure to prevent the incident of torture on the boy and to initiate legal proceeding against the offenders involved in the torture should not be declared illegal.
The bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Abu Taher Mohammad Saifur Rahman came up with the order and rule following a writ petition jointly filed by SC Lawyer Abdullah Mahmud Hasan and Barrister Arafat Hossain Khan seeking necessary order.
They submitted the petition on Sunday following The Daily Star news.
