Gonojagoran Mancha starts sit-in
A faction of Gonojagoron Mancha yesterday started a sit-in and will continue the protest in the capital's Shahbagh until the final verdict of war criminal Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury on July 29.
Activists of the group demanded that the Supreme Court uphold the death penalty of the BNP leader.
They also declared that they will continue demonstrations until their demand is met.
The faction's spokesperson Imran H Sarker said they would gather in Shahbagh everyday till July 29 to rally, stage sit-ins, and brought out processions.
The Appellate Division of the SC will deliver the verdict on that day on the appeal of the BNP leader challenging the death penalty given to him for committing crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.
On October 1, 2013, the International Crimes Tribunal-1 sentenced him to death for wartime offences.
On October 29, 2013 Salahuddin Quader appealed to the SC against the verdict seeking acquittal of the charges.
