Gazipur boy killed for smart phone
Unidentified miscreants have strangled a teenage boy to snatch his smart phone in Nandiasangun village of Sreepur upazila in Gazipur, say police and the family.
The body of Hemel, 14, whose throat was wrapped with a clothe, was found on a paddy field in the village yesterday morning, said Sreepur police Sub-inspector Binoy Kumar.
The family said Hemel, 14, son of Kajal Miah, used to live his maternal grandfather's house in Nandiasangun.
His grandfather Abu Taleb said Hemel recently visited his father's house in Gafargaon of Mymensingh and returned with the cellphone, which his father sent him from abroad.
Around 8:00pm on Monday, he went out of home with the phone to join a religious gathering in a nearby mosque and since then he had been missing, he added.
The cellphone has remained missing since the incident, said police. The body was sent to local hospital morgue for autopsy.
