Four to die for murder
A Dhaka court yesterday sentenced four youths to death, while two others got life imprisonment, for killing another in January 2009.
The deceased, Md Rana, was a co-worker of the murderers, who was killed following a dispute over distribution of money.
The four death row convicts are Md Masud, Md Jahangir Hossain, Al Amin alias Alam and Md Shafiqul Islam alias Robin. They have been absconding since the case was filed.
Md Babla and Md Monir Hossain got life imprisonment. Both of them were also fined Tk 20,000 each.
Judge Abdur Rahman Sarder of the Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 of Dhaka handed down the sentence, while Babla and Monir were present at the court.
The judge said that the execution order of the fugitives will be carried out right after their arrest or surrender.
On January 9, 2009, Rana was killed by his co-workers, following a dispute over the distribution of extorted money.
Cops recovered Rana's body the next day, from the spot and filed a case with Demra Police Station accusing some unknown persons.
