Five killed as buses collide in Pabna
Five people were killed and 20 others injured as two buses collided head-on on Dhaka-Pabna highway in Chinakhora area of Sujanagar upazila in Pabna yesterday morning.
The deceased are Mintu Miah, 30, of Tangbari village, Shohel Rana, 35, of Dapunia village, Md Ainuddin, of Dariapur village in Pabna, Abu Sayeed, 25, of Sirajganj and Nipendranth, 50. They died on the spot.
As it was raining, drivers of the two buses lost control over the vehicles, said Anwar Hossain, sub-inspector of Madhpur Highway Police Station.
Vehicular movement on the highway was disrupted for two hours due to the mishap. Highway police and firefighters rescued the victims.
In Joypurhat, a motorcyclist was killed as a bus hit his vehicle on Joypurhat-Akkelpur road near Kechermor of Akkelpur upazila yesterday.
The deceased is Mizanur Rahman, 35, of Joypurhat Municipality area.
