Syed Shamsul Haq laid to rest
Syed Shamsul Haq, most eminent of contemporary Bangla poets, was buried beside a mosque at the Kurigram Government College campus this afternoon.
Haq was buried there around 4:40pm after his third namaz-e-janaza held on the college ground in Kurigram Sadar upazila, reports our Kurigram correspondent.
People from all walks of life including Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor took part in the janaza and offered prayers seeking eternal peace for his departed soul.

The first namaj-e-janaza of Haq was held at the premises of the private TV channel i in Dhaka in the morning.
His body was taken to the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka around 11:00am.
The body was kept there till 1:00pm where thousands of people including, members of different social and cultural groups paid tributes to him.
His second namaj-e-janaza was held at Dhaka University mosque after Zohr prayer.
Later, his body was flown to Kurigram in the afternoon.
President Abdul Hamid reached the Shaheed Minar premises around 11:00am and paid his last respect to the versatile writer at the Shaheed Minar, our correspondent reports from the spot.
He talked to Shamsul’s wife Anwara Syed Haq, son Ditio Syed-Haq and daughter Bidita Sadi and expressed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor also paid tribute to Shamsul Haq, reports UNB.
