Fakhrul urges nat'l committee to accept its support against Rampal
BNP yesterday called upon the National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources, Power and Ports to accept its support for the movement against the Rampal power plant project.
“An isolated move can give nothing. We have already extended our support…They should accept our support and come forward to unite the entire nation on the issue,” said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
He was addressing a discussion on the project organised by a pro-BNP online youth platform, Zia Cyber Force, in the capital's Dhaka Reporters Unity.
BNP on August 25 announced it supported the movement and four days later the committee said it would not join hands with the party on the issue.
Meanwhile in a statement sent to the press, Fakhrul accused the government of implicating its leader MA Quaiyum in the Italian citizen Cesare Tavella murder case with a “political motive”.
