Domestic worker's son killed employer, own sister
The domestic worker's son killed his mother's employer for money and then killed his own sister who witnessed the first murder, said detectives yesterday referring to the gruesome double murder in Jatrabari on Tuesday.
The story behind the double murder unfolded when Detective Branch of police arrested the housemaid's son Sayeed Hawlader in Shahjahanpur Wednesday night.
"Sayeed and his friend Riaz first stabbed to death Raushan Ara on that afternoon. As twelve-year-old Kalpana Akter witnessed the murder, he killed his own sister," claimed Monirul Islam, joint commissioner of Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, at a press briefing at DMP media centre.
Monirul claimed that the duo entered Raushan's residence around 3:00pm on Tuesday and left after having lunch. Sayeed's mother Laki Akter was in the house then.
The two again came into the house after Laki left the building, he said.
As per their plan, Sayeed demanded a loan of Tk 10,000 from Raushan, a woman in her 60s. When she refused, they had an argument and Sayeed and Riaz attacked her with a kitchen knife, said Monirul narrating the incident.
Kalpana was then killed as she witnessed the murder, he said, adding that they are yet to find Laki's involvement in the murders.
Monirul said Sayeed confessed that after the murders they took away Tk 10,000, a laptop and a mobile phone which they sold for Tk 4,400.
Police are now looking for Riaz.
On Tuesday, Jatrabari police recovered the bodies of Raushan and Kalpana from the three-storey building.
