Dhaka south cleaned: Khokon
Animal refuse has been completely removed from the areas under Dhaka South City Corporation much earlier than the targeted 48 hours, Mayor Sayeed Khokon said today.
“We have tried to clean up the city within the fixed time with a combined effort to inspire people and institutional ability,” Khokon told journalists at a press conference in Nagar Bhaban around 11:30am.

Starting from 2:00pm on Eid day, the city corporation has already been able to remove all the waste of the sacrificed animals, the DSCC mayor claimed.
“We were able to remove around 19, 002 tonnes of waste by this time,” he added.
He thanked the people of the southern part Dhaka, cleaners and officials of the city corporation for the success.
Twenty four vehicles were used in the waste management process, he said adding that to enhance this capability the city corporation authorities, had to hire some of the vehicles from external sources.
Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival of Muslims, was celebrated in Dhaka and elsewhere across the country with due solemnity and religious fervour amid rains on Tuesday.
