Demonstrators still relentless
Demonstrators yesterday urged students at all educational institutions to go on a strike tomorrow demanding fresh tests for admission to medical and dental colleges over allegations that the last exam's question papers had been leaked.
Imran Habib Rumon, convener of Progotishil Chhatra Jote and Shamrajjobirodhi Chhatra Oikya, an alliance of 14 left leaning student organisations, made the announcement on behalf of the protesters at Central Shaheed Minar.
The demonstrating admission seekers and their parents held a rally there from 10:00am to 1:00pm braving the rains and were joined by the alliance which paraded Dhaka University's streets after bringing out a procession from Madhur Canteen.
Imran said they would bring out a procession carrying torches from Teacher-Student Centre at 6:00pm today. Bangladesh Chhatra Moitree activists there also announced bringing out another on the DU campus at 11:00am today.
Meanwhile, admission seekers blocked the street in front of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College for an hour in the afternoon.
A 100-strong procession of Progotishil Chhatra Jote also brought out a procession and organised a rally in front of Rajshahi University's central library. They placed a four-point demand including tough measures to prevent question paper leaks and forgery and exemplary punishment for the leak's perpetrators and law enforcers who attacked demonstrators recently. They threatened to go for tougher agitation programmes if the demands were not met.
