Death of ex-CJ: SC declared closed for today
Judicial functions of the Appellate Division and High Court Division of the Supreme Court will remain closed today in honour of former chief Justice MM Ruhul Amin, who passed away yesterday.
Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha on Wednesday announced that the courts will not carry any judicial activity after 11:00am today as the namaz-e-janaza for Justice Ruhul Amin will be held on the SC premises.
Justice Amin died of heart diseases at a hospital in Singapore early Tuesday at the age of 74.
Body of the late chief justice was brought to the country and taken to the SC premises where judges, lawyers and officials are expected to attend his janaza.
He left behind his wife and two sons.
CJ, Law Minister Anisul Huq, Supreme Court judges, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and SC lawyers and officials condoled the death.
Justice Amin was appointed as the chief justice on May 25, 2008.
He had served as the chairman of Bangladesh Judicial Service Commission since 2004.
