Convocation of DIU held
The sixth convocation of Daffodil International University (DIU) was held on its Ashulia campus yesterday, said a press release.
On behalf of chancellor of the university President Abdul Hamid, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid presided over the ceremony and conferred degrees on 3,473 graduating students. Among them, 13 were awarded gold medals for their outstanding results.
Dr G Viswanathan, founder and chancellor of VIT University, Vellor, India, attended the event as the convocation speaker.
The programme was also addressed by Prof Abdul Mannan, chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh; Sabur Khan, chairman, board of trustees; and Prof Yousuf Mahabubul Islam, DIU vice-chancellor.
Terming the private universities as a thrust sector of higher education, the education minister said some private universities are trying their best to improve the quality of education.
“Our main objective should be ensuring quality education for students and providing them with all the necessary facilities,” he stressed.ax
