Ctg Wasa undertakes three projects to end water crisis by 2021
It will be possible to eradicate water scarcity in Chittagong city by 2021, if Chittagong Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (CWasa) can implement three projects in between, said CWasa officials.
The assurance came up in the inauguration ceremony of the CWasa Service Month which started on November 12 and will last till December 11 with an aim to establishing direct communication with consumers by receiving their opinions and thereby improving its service.
The three projects titled 'Chittagong Water Supply and Sanitation Project', 'Karnaphuli Water Supply Project' (Phase-2) and 'Bhandarjuri Water Supply Project' will cost a total of Tk 7,000 crore, said CWasa Managing Director Eng AKM Fajlullah at the ceremony at Chittagong Press Club.
Cwasa is currently supplying 30 crore litres of water against a daily demand of 50 crore litres.
With help of JICA and World Bank, CWasa has undertaken the projects to be executed by 2021. Once the projects are implemented, a total of 29 crore litres of water will be supplied to the port city dwellers, he added.
