Ctg man's body found 2 months after abduction
Police in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong yesterday recovered the decomposed body of a man, more than two months after he had gone missing from his house on March 20.
Md Faruk, 27, son of Abul Kashem of Tulatoli area of the upazila, used to work at a scrap metal depot and handle cash of the depot.
On March 20, Faruk's friend, Md Shohel, and his (Shohel's) cohort, Jamal Uddin, took him to a remote hilly area saying they would buy gold from smugglers at a low price.
Since then, Faruk did not return home and he had Tk 6 lakh with him, according to police.
"When they reached Suronger Ghona, a hilly area around seven kilometres away from their locality, the duo hacked him to death and took away the money, leaving the body on the spot," said Sub-inspector Md Iqbal of Sitakunda police.
As Faruk did not return home, his brother, Md Rashed, filed a general diary on March 21 and an abduction case on April 20 against Shohel.
Later, police arrested Jamal, who confessed to his involvement in the murder during an interrogation, added the SI.
Gleaning information from him, police recovered the body around 1:30pm and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue an autopsy, said the SI, adding the abduction case would be turned to a murder case.
