Ctg in festive mood
Although it rained during the afternoons of Saturday and Sunday, it could not dampen the festive spirit of the port city residents.
The recreational places were abuzz with visitors during the last three days since Saturday -- the Eid day. The dwellers thronged the parks, sea beach, Naval Academy Road area, banks of the Karnaphuli and the zoo.
On Eid day, the Patenga sea beach and Naval Academy areas saw a huge rush of people, enjoying with their family members. The Abhay Mitra Ghat on the bank of the Karnaphuli was also a sought-after place for the holidaymakers.
Yesterday being bright and sunny, added more delight to the Eid festival.
Mohammad Mohsin went to the Foy's Lake Amusement Park with his children yesterday afternoon. His children -- Ishika and Tuhin -- were elated at spending time there.
“We went to the Patenga sea beach on Sunday but could not stay for a long time due to rain,” he said.
Contacted, Biswajit Ghosh, deputy manager (marketing) of Concord Amusement World, Foy's Lake, said yesterday's turnout of people was higher than the previous two days. “Over 4,000 people visited the park and sea world yesterday.”
The Chittagong Zoo was also crowded with visitors. Around 2,000 people visited the zoo during Eid, said Shahadat Hossain Shuvo, veterinary surgeon at the zoo.
Shwadhinata Park, Karnaphuli Park, Kazir Dewri Park and Butterfly Park were also abuzz with people. Samia Tareq went to Abhay Mitra Ghat with her two children yesterday afternoon. “We also went to the Butterfly Park on Sunday,” she said. “The children want to visit the zoo. I'm planning to take them to Foy's Lake and then to the nearby zoo.”
She looked at her children, who were running around and smiling constantly. “They are enjoying a lot.”
