Cricketer Sunny discharged from case
A Dhaka court yesterday discharged suspended cricketer Arafat Sunny and his mother from a case filed over torturing a woman, who claimed to be his wife, after accepting the final report (FRT) submitted by police.
Earlier on August 17, police submitted the report stating the charges brought against Sunny and his mother were not proved.
The final investigation report said the complainant filed the case by presenting false information, so the report asked to acquit the accused. Moreover, the investigators did not find any proof of marriage between Arafat Sunny and the complainant.
Police did not also found any evidence of allegation brought against Nargis Sultana, mother of Sunny.
Earlier on February 1, Nasrin Sultana, claimed to be the wife of Arafat Sunny, filed the case.
Two more cases -- one under the Information and Communication Technology Act (ICT) and other for demanding dowry -- were also filed against Sunny.
