Sust expels assaulter of Khadiza Begum
A Sylhet court yesterday ordered Shahporan police to submit the chargesheet in the case over the hacking of Khadiza Begum Nargis within November 15.
Umme Sharaban Tahura, additional metropolitan magistrate of Sylhet, passed the order.
Court sources said the court ordered Badrul Alam to appear before the court and the magistrate ordered sending him to jail after getting information about the progress in the case.
In the session, Md Harunur Rashid, investigation officer of the case and sub-inspector of Shahporan Police Station, confirmed to the court that the chargesheet will be submitted soon, court sources confirmed.
Md Harunur Rashid said the process of filing of the chargesheet was almost complete and he hoped to submit it to the court soon before the stipulated date.
Meanwhile, the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) expelled Badrul Alam through a syndicate meeting.
After getting the report of a “fact-finding” committee formed by the university, the syndicate expelled Badrul, confirmed Prof Kabir Hossain, a member of the syndicate.
On October 3, Khadiza Begum Nargis, a student of Sylhet Government Women's College, was brutally hacked by Badrul Alam, a student of Sust and senior assistant secretary of the Bangladesh Chhatra League unit at Sust.
