Contracts approved to give 798 flats to public servants
The Cabinet Purchase Committee yesterday approved seven proposals awarding contracts for building 798 flats for public servants in the capital's Mirpur.
The housing and public works ministry selected six contractors to construct seven 20-storey buildings containing six flats per floor.
It is part of the ministry's housing project for providing 1,064 flats, of sizes 1,250 and 1,500 square feet (sqft), to public servants.
Earlier, the cabinet body awarded similar contracts to local firms in a meeting with Finance Minister AMA Muhith in the chair.
Of the builders, Jamal and Company will independently construct Building-6, comprising 1,500 sqft flats, for Tk 80.63 crore.
It will also construct Building-3 (1,250 sqft flats) with Hasan & Sons for Tk 71.57 crore, and Building-4 (1,250 sqft flats) with Masood and Company for Tk 71.12 crore.
Kusholi Nirmata Limited won contracts for Building-1 (1,250 sqft flats) at Tk 71.41 crore and Building-10 (1,500 sqft flats) at Tk 79.30 crore.
Mazid Sons Construction Ltd got Building-5 (1,250 sqft flats) for Tk 71.13 while National Development Engineering Ltd Building-9 (1,500 sqft flats) for Tk 79.30 crore.
The cabinet body also approved a ministry proposal for increasing by Tk 34.41 crore the cost of a Tk 108.83 crore-under-construction housing project at Kakrail for Supreme Court judges comprising a 20-storey building with 76 flats, each of 3,500 sqft.
