Compatriot Winson remanded
The Indian MBBS studentof University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC),who allegedly stabbed his compatriot to death and later tried to kill himself by hanging in the port city on July 15, was placed onthree-day remand yesterday.
Chittagong Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate ShahadatHossaoinBhuiyangranted the remand after the accused, MaisnamWinson Singh, was produced before the court by Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) with a 10-day remand, said Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-prosecution) NirmalenduBikashChakraborty.
PBI took over the case on July 20. Winson, of Imphal East of Manipur,was taken under PBI custody and shown arrested in the case after Max Hospital discharged him, said PBI Inspector and investigation officer of the case SantoshChakma.
On July 15, Winson's classmate and flat-mate Ateef Sheikh, of Assam,was stabbed to death following a party intheir rented flat at Lake View Society. Winson was rescued by their two flat-mates including GangmelNiraj.
Nirajwas also placed on two-day remand on Sunday.
