CID transfers probe to another officer
New investigation officer of Criminal Investigation Department was yesterday given the responsibility to probe into the murder of college student Shohagi Jahan Tonu.
Jalal Uddin Ahmed, assistant superintendent of police of CID, yesterday evening took charge of the job, reports our correspondent.
He replaced Gazi Mohammad Ibrahim, who has been investigating the sensational murder since April when the killing case was shifted to the CID to expedite its probe.
Tonu, 19, a second year history student of Comilla Victoria College and a member of Victoria College Theatre, went missing on March 20, hours after she had gone out of her house at Comilla Mainamati Cantonment for private tuition.
Later, Tonu's father Yaar Hossain found his daughter lying unconsciousness with severe injuries to her body in a bush adjacent to their house.
She was then taken to Combined Military Hospital where doctors declared her dead.
Her father filed the murder case the next day against unnamed persons.
