Case filed against Toki’s father for 'hurting religious sentiment'
A case was filed against Narayanganj’s cultural activist Rafiur Rabbi, also the father of killed schoolboy Tanvir Mohammad Toki, for allegedly hurting religious sentiment.
Maulana Ferdausur Rahman, district coordinator of Hefajat-e-Islam, filed the case with the court of Narayanganj Chief Judicial Magistrate Ashok Kumar Dutta this morning, reports our local correspondent.
After accepting and hearing the case, the court directed the Detective Branch of police to submit a report after conducting an investigation, said plaintiff’s lawyer Sultan Ul Arefin.
On April 7, during the 25th anniversary of local cultural organisation “Srutee”, Rabbi delivered a speech hurting religious sentiment, said the lawyer quoting case statement.
Meanwhile, Rabbi alleged that the case was filed by some other quarter using Hefajat-e-Islam.
However, next steps will be taken after getting a copy of the case, Rabbi added.
