Canadian team meets PM's security adviser, foreign secy
A Canadian delegation yesterday met Prime Minister's Security Affairs Adviser Maj Gen (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique and Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque on the first day of its two-day visit to assess the security situation in the capital in the aftermath of the July 1 Gulshan attack.
The team led by David Drake, international security and intelligence director general of the Canadian foreign office, arrived yesterday.
During the meetings, the team said Canada would stay beside Bangladesh in the newly emerged situation, said diplomatic sources. The delegation did not brief the media.
Canadian High Commissioner in Dhaka Benoit-Pierre Laramee accompanied the delegation. David Drake is scheduled to leave on Friday.
