Militants shifting hideouts outside Dhaka: DMP chief
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia today claimed that the militants are now shifting their hideouts outside the capital Dhaka.
The existence of militant hideouts in Dhaka has come down due to strong anti-militancy stance of the law enforcement agencies, he said while addressing a rally in Dhaka this afternoon.
Police organised the “rally against drug and militancy” at Titumir College in Mohakhali area.
“Now, we all are conscious enough about the militancy in Dhaka as a result militants are shifting their dens outside the capital,” Asaduzzaman said.
Citizen Information Management System (CIMS) software database have been introduced to detect and prevent crimes in the city, the DMP commissioner said.
House owners are providing details about their tenants through the software that has increased the capability of the law enforcers to take action against criminal activities like militancy, he said.
“We have faced difficulties when we introduce the system (CIMS). Now it is working,” the DMP commissioner added.
Taking part in the rally, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal again claimed that there is no Islamic State militant in Bangladesh and said an international quarter is hatching conspiracy to turn the country into a militant state.
Praising anti-militancy role of the law enforcers, Kamal said police is dealing with the issue in a skilled hand.
Mass awareness has been created across the country and all people in the country have taken an anti-militancy stance collectively, he added.
