Bangladesh-China defence relations reach ‘unprecedented heights’
Chinese Defence Attaché' in Bangladesh Senior Colonel Zhang Wei yesterday said Bangladesh-China defence relationship has reached “unprecedented heights” in last few years.
Addressing a reception on the Chinese embassy premises marking the 88th founding anniversary of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, Zhang Wei mentioned that Bangladesh so far is the only country to receive Chinese medical ship twice.
Besides being a reliable and affordable source of weapons and equipment for Bangladesh Armed Forces, China is also providing military technology and training, read a Chinese embassy press release yesterday.
During Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to China, the two sides agreed to forge relationship which includes training programmes, joint exercises, defence procurement, security cooperation such as counter terrorism, anti-piracy, peacekeeping cooperation and disaster management.
