Arrest warrant for ex-BCL duo
A Dhaka court today issued arrest warrant against two former Chhatra League leaders, who brandished guns during an eviction drive against hawkers in Gulistan on October 27.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Khurshid Alam passed the order in absent of the duo cancelling their bail in connection with an attempted murder case.

Meanwhile, Sub Inspector (SI) Emranul Islam, also the investigation officer of the case submitted a 10-day remand prayer for quizzing them.
On Oct 27, a clash broke out in Gulistan when a city corporation team launched a drive to remove illegal makeshift shops from pavements and the underpass market area. The clash left 10 people, including two corporation employees, injured.

During the clash, BCL’s Dhaka city South unit general secretary Md Sabbir Hossain and Wari unit general secretary Ashiqur Rahman Sabbir were seen firing in the air. The picture of the two brandishing guns appeared in the media the next day.
Sub-Inspector Md Abdul Mannan of Shahbagh Police Station filed the case in this connection on October 31 against the two and 50 to 60 unnamed people.
The ruling-Awami League student body later expelled them from the organisation for violating organisational discipline.
