Altaf Mahmood dedicated life for betterment of journalists
Speakers at a memorial meeting yesterday recalled the immense contribution of Journalist Altaf Mahmood to the welfare of journalists.
The meeting, organised by a faction of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), mourned the early demise of organisation's incumbent president, who died at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on January 24 this year.
Zafar Wazed, acting president of BFUJ, chaired the meeting.
The speakers recalled that Altaf was an honest person who lived a hermit's life so that others could live better.
They also demanded that a state award be given to him, posthumously, for his priceless services.
