Acid attack victim dies at DMCH
A woman, who suffered burn injuries in an acid attack allegedly by her husband over family dispute in Fatullah area of Sadar upazila three days ago, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) last night.
The deceased was identified as Yasmin Begum, 32, wife of Polash, son of Ahammad Ullah of Bhuigarh area in Fatullah. The couple had three children.
The victim's family members said Yasmin's husband Polash, accompanied by others, hurled acid at her through the window of the house of her father Gulzar Hossain at Bhuigarh around 1:30am on March 23, causing serious burn injuries in her face as well as in the rest of her body.
She was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and admitted to the burn unit. She succumbed to her injuries at the burn unit on Thursday night.
Meanwhile, Yasmin's brother Shah Alam has filed a case in this connection. Police also arrested five people, including Yasmin's four in-laws after the filing of the case.
