ACC quizzes 3 Rajuk officials
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday interrogated three officials of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (Rajuk) including its chief town planner over corruption allegations.
The officials included Sirajul Islam, chief town planner; Ashraful Alam Akanda, town planner; and AZ Shafiul Hannan, an authorised officer.
These officials were interrogated for altering the land use as delineated in the Detail Area Plan (DAP) for commercial and residential purposes, and giving approval to commercial buildings in different residential areas and residential buildings in commercial areas, said Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya, public relations officer of the anti-graft body.
ACC's Deputy Director Helal Uddin Sharif interrogated them for about two hours starting from 10:00am.
Sirajul Islam could not be reached despite several attempts over the phone.
Contacted, Shafiul Hannan said ACC called him in relation to a complaint filed over approval of the construction of a building on Indira Road.
The ACC thought, Shafiul Hannan said, as an authorised officer he had a role in the DAP land use review, which he does not have.
