ACC probing graft by officials, staff in foreign missions
The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has started a probe into the allegations of corruption against officials and staff who worked in 19 foreign missions of Bangladesh between 2009 and 2015.
ACC has already sent a letter seeking relevant documents and audit reports of 2009-15 from the Director General of Mission Audit Directorate.
The ACC has requested the audit directorate to provide information about the officials and staff of Bangladesh high commissions in Malaysia, London and Canada, and Bangladesh embassies in Washington, Riyadh, France, Beijing, the UAE, Rome, Geneva and Manila while consulates general of Bangladesh in New York, Los Angeles, Jeddah, Hong Kong, Kunming and Milan as well as assistant high commission offices in Birmingham and Manchester.
An ACC official said the commission will take further step if any evidence of corruption and misappropriation of money by the staff are found after scrutinising the documents and the audit reports.
