Abul Mansur Ahmad's 117th birthday today
Today is the 117th birth anniversary of Abul Mansur Ahmad, an eminent litterateur, journalist and politician of the sub-continent.
Marking the occasion, Abul Mansur Ahmad Smriti Parishad is going to hold a daylong "Abul Mansur Ahmad Memorial Conference" in Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad Auditorium of Bangla Academy in the capital tomorrow.
Researchers, essayists and writers on Abul Mansur Ahmad, journalists, litterateurs and academics will be present at the programme between 10:00am and 6:00pm, according to a press release.
On the occasion, some basic books of the writer will be republished, while Prothoma is going to publish a memorial book edited by Imran Mahfuz.
Abul Mansur Ahmad Memorial Conference will be divided into three parts, based on Ahmad's life as a litterateur, journalist and politician.
Writer and novelist Syed Shamsul Haque will chair the first session where Dr Biswajit Ghosh will read out an article. Journalist Kamal Lohani, Prof Abdullah Abu Sayeed, Selina Hossain and Dr Morshed Shafiul Hasan will take part in the discussion.
Dr Rafiqul Islam will preside over the second session where Dr Chengis Khan will read out an article. Muhammad Jahangir, Shamsuzzaman Khan, Syed Abul Maksud and Abul Momen will take part in the session.
The last session will be chaired by Professor Emeritus Anisuzzaman. Dr Nurul Amin will read out an article, while Dr Mizanur Rahman, Serajul Islam Choudhury, Abul Ahsan Chowdhury and Habib R Rahman will join the discussion.
Five eminent personalities -- Dr Nurul Amin, Dr Rajib Humayun, Dr Mizanur Rahman, Dr Md Chengis Khan and Imran Mahfuz -- will be awarded for their research work on Abul Mansur Ahmad. Special honorary memorial will be conferred to Dr Rafiqul Islam.
Abul Mansur Ahmad Smriti Parishad invited all interested to attend the programme.
