Abdul Hamid steps into 74
President Abdul Hamid stepped into 74 yesterday.
On this occasion, officials and employees of the president's office greeted Abdul Hamid, who took over as the country's president on April 24, 2013, at a ceremony at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban.
Thanking all for the greetings, the president said, "The love of people and the inspiration from the ideal of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman helped me reach my present position. I want to follow the ideal of Bangabandhu in the rest of my life and see the Golden Bangla as dreamt by Bangabandhu."
He sought blessings and cooperation from the people of all walks of life to discharge his duties.
A munajat was offered seeking divine blessings for the long life of the president as well as continued peace, progress and prosperity of the country.
Family members of the president were present. Abdul Hamid was born on January 1, 1944 at Kamalpur in Mithamoin upazila of Kishoreganj district.
