7 human traffickers, robbers held
Detectives today claimed to have arrested three human traffickers and four robbers in different areas of Dhaka.
Of the arrestees, Md Ratan Sarkar, Md Sohel Ahmed and Md Nazrul Islam were said to have been involved in trafficking women to middle-east, said Abdul Baten, joint commissioner of Detective Branch (DB) of police.
They were arrested after a general diary was filed with Monohardi Police Station in Narsingdi on April 22, he said at a press briefing at the media centre of Dhaka Metropolitan Police in Dhaka.
In the diary, a victim’s mother complained that her daughter was trafficked to Jordan and Tk 3 lakh ransom was being asked for her daughter’s freedom, he said
Following the allegation, a team of DB arrested them in Motijheel area of Dhaka early today and found their involvement in the crime.
However, Golam Mostofa Rasel, additional deputy commissioner of DB, said that they have been able to bring back the victim to the country on May 23.
Meanwhile, four others were arrested in connection with robbery at electronics stores in different parts of the country.
They were identified as Rabiul Karim Robi, Rasel Haque, Abbas and Mostafa. Detectives arrested them from different parts of Dhaka city and Pabna on May 23.
Among them, Abbas and Mostafa were said to be members of a robber gang while the two others used to sell the robbed electronics gadgets at their own shops in Pabna, he said.
