6 lives lost in accidents
A couple was killed and their three-year-old son injured as a sand-carrying truck rammed their motorcycle on Tangail-Mymensingh Highway in Mogolpara area of Ghatail upazila in Tangail yesterday morning.
The deceased are Sultan Mahmud Khan, 38, of Jhaoail Dakuri village and his wife Raoshanara Begum, 28.
Police said Sultan, an employee of Power Development Board (PDB), was going to Kalihati with his wife and son riding his motorcycle. In the accident, Sultan died on the spot while his wife died on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Their son, Rabbi who received minor injury, was given first aid at Tangail General Hospital, said police.
In Comilla, two pedestrians were killed as the driver of a covered van lost control over the steering and ran them over while they were standing beside Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Dharanipara in Chandina upazila yesterday.
The deceased are Akbar Hossain and Kabir Hossain of Dharanipara in the district.
Police said the incident occurred as the driver lost his control over the vehicle. Two others were also injured in the accident.
In Mymensingh, a three-year-old was killed as a Dhaka-bound bus rammed a motorcycle carrying him in Jamirdia Masterbari area of Bhaluka upazila yesterday. The deceased is Salman. He was with his uncle Sadiqul Islam, 30, who was injured in the accident, said police.
In another incident in the upazila, Delwar Hossain, 60, of Jatrabari in Dhaka was killed and five people were injured as a pick-up van turned turtle on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Kathali area yesterday morning.
