5 lives lost on road
Five people were killed and seven others injured in road accidents in three districts yesterday.
In Natore, two women were killed as a truck skidded off a road and turned turtle in Karbala area of Baraigram upazila.
The deceased were Nazma Begum, 34, and Sajeda Begum, 30. They hailed from Kachutia village in the district.
Police said the incident occurred as the driver lost his control over the vehicle, leaving the women dead on the spot.
In Dinajpur, two people were killed as a bus hit a rickshaw-van carrying them on Dinajpur-Bogra highway in Haripara village under Ghoraghat upazila.
The deceased were Abdus Salam, 55, of Bhelai village and Abdus Salam, 65, of Kanaibari village in the district.
In Nilphamari, an elderly man was killed as a battery-run three-wheeler carrying him collided head-on with a motorcycle on Tunirhat-Bhadurdarga road in Dimla upazila.
The deceased was Kasem Molla, 70, of Nautara village under the upazila. Seven other people, including the motorcyclist, were injured in the accident.
