3 businesses, 2 meat traders fined for various irregularities
Mobile courts in Chittagong city fined three businesses and two meat traders a total of Tk 4.75 lakh for various irregularities yesterday.
In Yakubnagar area, a mobile court of the Chittagong District Administration, led by Executive Magistrate Ruhul Amin, fined M/s Malek Sons Tk 3 lakh on different charges including cheating in weight, said a press release.
During the drive at the salt factory of M/s Malek Sons, it was seen that salt was being manufactured in a traditional method and in an unhygienic environment. But on the packet of salt, it was written an automatic machine was used for manufacturing.
The court also found no existence of iodine in the salt.
Another mobile court of the administration, led by Executive Magistrate Sabbir Rahman Sunny, fined another salt factory in Majhirghat area Tk 10,000 for selling salt without iodine in the open market.
Meanwhile, a mobile court of the Chittagong City Corporation, led by Executive Magistrate Forkan Elahi, fined Bagdad Foods in Oxygen area Tk 1.50 lakh on different charges including making iftar items using burnt oil and for not maintaining hygiene, said a CCC press release.
The same court also fined two meat traders Tk 15,000 for cheating in weight in the area.
