Police today claimed arrest of 25 Islami Chattra Shibir activists, the student front of fundamentalist Jamaat-e-Islami, from Panthapath area of Dhaka city.
They were arrested from Haque tower in Panthapath area around 4:00pm, Biplob Kumar Sarkar, deputy commissioner, Tejgaon division of DMP told The Daily Star.
Based on intelligence that a training centre was set up there for online anti-government propaganda, a team of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station arrested them, he said.
They were also trying to raise public opinion against the trial of war criminals through the internet, the DC said.
“Considering the setup of the office, it is apparently a training centre of Shibir but we need to interrogate them to give a conclusive opinion,” he said.
They were being quizzed at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station.
