2 cases filed against BCL leader
Two separate cases have been filed in Narayanganj yesterday against a Bangladesh Chhatra League leader for abducting a private university student from the capital and possessing an illegal firearm and five bullets.
Asim Dewan, 30, general secretary of Barisal City BCL unit, was also expelled for breaking the organisation's code of conduct.
Asim and his accomplices forced the girl into a car in the capital's Basundhara Residential Area on Monday around 5:00pm, said Badshah Alam, sub-inspector of Rupganj Police Station.
As the vehicle was approaching a police check-post in Rupganj of Narayanganj around 8:00pm, the girl cried out for help, he said, adding that the law enforcers and locals rushed to the car hearing her scream.
Apart from arresting Asim, police also seized the vehicle. Asim has been placed on a four-day remand.
