17 landless indigenous families get govt land
Thakurgaon district administration distributed government land among 17 landless indigenous families in different villages of Sadar and Pirganj upazilas on Thursday.
Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Chandra Biswas handed over documents of 193 decimals of khas land to them at a programme in the conference room of his office.
Of them, documents of 130 decimals of land were given to 13 families of the Sadar upazila while 63 decimals to four families in Pirganj upazila of the district.
The families got the land under HEKS Switzerland-financed “Promotion of rights for ethnic people and dalit improvement programme” implemented by Eco-Social Development Organisation (ESDO).
Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Toimur Rahman and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Asraful Islam were present as special guests while ESDO Executive Director Muhammad Shahid Uz Zaman was in the chair.
