The tinkle of glass bangles on a woman's hand is one of those things that make Bangladeshi women stand out, just like the bindi on their forehead and the way they wear their saris. It is an essential part of the makeup a woman wears for celebrations or just because. A lot of hard work goes into making these bangles of all the colours a woman could want. Mohammad Shiraj was born next to a bangles workshop in Kamrangirchar. For 25 years he has been making the ornaments. The 50-year-old now employs over two dozen men and women at the factory. He can churn out 20,000 bangles a week and with the Eid not very far away, production is at full swing.
