HE condition of most of the streets in Chittagong has become pitiable following incessant rain and the consequent waterlogging. Besides, vehicles often have to negotiate the roads riddled with potholes. Break downs and passengers getting injured when the vehicles fall into them have become regular things. The passengers have been facing untold sufferings. Some roads lost their surfaces entirely. Streets at Bahaddarhat, Muradpur, Soloshahar, Agrabad, Port Connecting Road, EPZ, Halisahar and Airport are in bad shape. Though the rain has stopped for now, many streets are under tidal water. Chittagong City Corporation has repaired some streets but most are still in appalling condition, which contributes to traffic jams and congestion. Photo: Anurup Kanti Das
