Chittagong Int'l Short and Documentary Film Fest ends
The two-day “1st Chittagong International Short and Documentary Film Festival” concluded at Theatre Institute, Chittagong (TIC) auditorium recently.
Chittagong Film Centre (CFC), a prominent organisation working for short film movement in the city, hosted the festival where film buffs enjoyed offbeat films from home and abroad.
The festival featured a total of 23 fiction films, feature movies and documentaries made by directors of Bangladesh, India, Poland, France, USA, Italy and China.
At the festival, Polish film maker Bartosz Kruhlik's film “The Heat” bagged the Best Short Film Award while the documentary titled “36-24-36” made by Bangladeshi director Bratto Amin was selected for Sazzad Hossain Upol award for best documentary.
MA Malek, editor of prominent local daily The Dainik Azadi inaugurated the festival as chief guest. At the closing ceremony, poet and journalist Abul Momen and film critic Anwar Hossain Pintu delivered speeches, with film connoisseur Bidhan Barua in the chair.
Terming film as a strong means of addressing life and society, Abul Momen said due to absence of film critics and proper movie analysis, nowadays the standard of films are deteriorating despite presence of developed technology.
