Charges pressed against Fakhrul, Moudud, Abbas
Detectives today submitted charges against 41 BNP leaders including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Moudud Ahmed and Mirza Abbas in connection with crude bomb explosion, police assault and vehicle torching last year.
The incidents took place in front of the Viqarunnisa Noon School and College in the capital on March 2, 2013.
Dipak Kumar Das, a sub-inspector of Detective Branch of police, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted two separate charge sheets to the Chief Metropolitan Court of Dhaka.
Separate charge sheets were submitted for assaulting police, torching vehicles and preventing law enforcers from discharging their duties and for hurling crude bombs on public and police during the opposition agitation programmes including road blockades, demonstration and hartals on March 2.
BNP leaders including acting secretary general Fakhrul, standing committee members Moudud and Abbas were sent to jail on April 7 last year in connection with the case.
