Case against Khaleda dismissed hrs into filing
A Dhaka court today dismissed a case filed against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia for her claim that Ziaur Rahman was the first president of the country.
Metropolitan Magistrate Shamsul Arefin passed the order this afternoon saying no element was found to take the case into cognizance.
AB Siddique, president of Bangladesh Jananetri Parishad, a pro-Awami League organisation, earlier in the morning filed the case with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in Dhaka.
On March 27 at a discussion on the Independence Day, Khaleda claimed that her husband was the first president of the country and the proclaimer of the independence.
In his complain, Siddique said the statement has belittled the prestige of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman before the international community.
He had appealed to the court to issue an arrest warrant against Khaleda after taking cognizance of the charges.
